We have all heard this before, replace your smoke detector batteries when you change the clocks, but if you’re anything like me, you probably don’t! I have thought for years that there is some kind of program that only allows the Low Battery signal to go off in the middle of the night. This happened at 1:40 AM a few weeks ago for me. I dragged myself out of bed, found a step ladder, searched for the longest 6 minutes of my life for the beeping culprit, and promptly shoved the whole beeping detector in the garage fridge until I remembered to change its battery 2 days later. So be better than me and replace your smoke detector batteries before the battery dies. Most smoke detectors are hard wired with a battery backup for safety. When you put the new battery in, make sure to hit the Test button as well to ensure they are all working properly.
