I have always been a big fan of preventative roof maintenance, mostly because I hate paint and drywall repairs! It is an easy, inexpensive way to keep your roof in good shape and prevent a leak that could cause interior or hidden damage. Roof maintenance appointments are inexpensive; you’ll get your roof penetrations resealed, check for nail pops, and have the roof checked over for any damaged shingles. If you’re in a townhome, check with your HOA. Most townhome associations only do reactive roof repairs and will often not cover interior damage, so you may want to suggest having a roofer out before there are problems. I typically have a roofer out to check my home every 2 years, but if it’s been more than 5 years since someone has been on yours, you’re probably due!
